We DO NOT have a scent called Cinders + Ash, and that’s a good thing. We use wicks that have a .25” base. This means that the wick will self extinguish before it reaches the bottom of the jar or tin.  This is a safety feature and keeps your jar from overheating and busting open with a live flame. You will always have leftover wax at the bottom.  The good news is that you can put that vessel on a wax warmer plate, get more life out of your scent, clean out the jar or tin, and reuse.

**Update**

Woohoo! We have found a fantastic soy wax, and now have a NEW premium soy blend wax that we use in all of our candles and wax melts! All are available at the shop and online.  We still promise that your candle will have great hot throw! So, we are now dipping our toes into the soy waters and can't wait to see how it goes. 

The short answer: Not yet.

The long answer: We are testing new formulations and hope to launch soy options in 2021.

The longer answer: Soy is a pain in the rear. Yes, it burns slow. Yes, it is touted to be a cleaner burn (but that’s a whole other longer discussion about how soy is a chemical byproduct just like paraffin). BUT it takes a lot more heat to melt soy, so to get a proper melt pool around your wick and to burn a candle all the way down, you need bigger wicks. Bigger wicks mean bigger flames and, in our experience, more soot. Then there’s the whole problem of getting a good scent throw out of soy. It isn’t satisfying to have an expensive candle that could warm you with its flame but not smell like anything. Still, we are working on a solution. Until then, for the purposes of our scented candles—we use a premium paraffin. 

Not to eat, but yes! We use pthalate-free fragrance oils and cotton core wicks. Our products are lead-free, zinc-free and dye-free. 

Not yet. Here‘s the deal—you can find vanilla and lavender scents everywhere, and they are usually wonderful! I have tried to find a fragrance oil in one of those for years, and none have knocked my socks off. In fact, they all smell a little cheap or chemical-y. So, until I find the perfect scent, we will be lavender and vanilla-less here at LJ.

BUT—we now have bath and body products! Our new scent, Lavender & Cedarwood has lavender essential oil. There is also lavender essential oil in all of our body lotions (You Are Beautiful Body Lotion). So, lavender lovers rejoice!! We now have a little lavender in the mix. Vanilla lovers, I haven’t forgotten you. I just haven’t found the best. Yet.  Keep checking back for more updates.
